New Conscious Business Podcast on Falling Fruit

Posted on Nov 5th, 2007 by Duff : Modern Magician Duff

Last week, the project I've been secretly working on for almost 7 months launched: Falling Fruit, a podcast network for conscious media. Falling Fruit is a conscious media network that exists to inform, empower, and connect global change agents—people like you who understand the urgency and importance of making positive changes in their lives and in the world now, in the most effective and intelligent ways possible.

I'm a co-host of a new weekly audio podcast called Conscious Business with Theo Horesh, a good friend of mine and a very interesting guy. You can listen free to the first episode here, or subscribe to the show via email or iTunes here. Conscious Business will be the second podcast on the Falling Fruit network, in addition to Buddhist Geeks, a popular Buddhist podcast.

Conscious Business
On Conscious Business, we will be looking at the emerging world of conscious business and examining the strategies, leaders, cultural conditions and new markets that are driving its evolution. We aim to do more than have interviews, instead pushing the envelope for what dialogue is possible with the leaders and authors that are driving this movement.

Our next episode to air next week will feature the founder of this website, Zaadz.com, noneother than Brian Johnson. We had a very inspiring conversation that I'm sure many will benefit from.

Check out Falling Fruit and let us know what you think! It's all FREE! WHOOO! :)

And if you like us, please promote us at MindBodyGreen by clicking on the plus arrows for Conscious Business, Falling Fruit, and Buddhist Geeks (you'll need to sign up, but it takes 5 minutes).

Live with Arete! Fulfilling your full potential at work...

Conscious Business
The new episode of Conscious Business--a free podcast from Falling Fruit--just came out (earlier than I thought!) with Zaadz founder (and all-around cool dood) Brian Johnson.

Listening to it again I got seriously inspired! I hope you will too. In this 21 minute dialogue, we delve into the motivations behind business, career, the hero's journey, and how to live your passions at work.

"What would I pay to do that I could get paid to do?" asks Brian. Good question to ask regularly! "What the world needs from us is us--our highest selves..."

We also talk about Flow, where we lose our sense of self temporarily when we are fully engaged.

Google Earth: tool for developing world-centric consciousness

Posted on Nov 12th, 2007 by Duff : Modern Magician Duff
If you've never seen Google Earth, you're missing out on one of the coolest free applications ever.

With this program, you can fly around a virtual reality planet Earth and view almost any location with quite good detail, using satellite imagery.

And now you can even view the stars!

There are numerous files that users have created for flying around this virtual world, and many oddities, like teams people searching for Area 54 in the deserts of Nevada.

It's difficult to not view the world as hyper connected and global once one has played around with such a tool. It imprints an internal visual picture of the world in one's visual memory, easily navigable and dynamic. I can't help but think that tools like this are facilitating the rise of a world-centric level of development.

In addition, virtual worlds generally elicit questions about reality. What is real? How do we know what is real and what isn't?

Imagine Google Earth version 1000.0, a full visual-auditory-kinesthetic virtual reality simulation of the planet, updated faster than the perceptual threshold of any of the senses, in real-time. What would the difference between this map and the "real" territory be? When the technology is sufficiently complex, what will keep us from questioning our models of reality and preventing the reification of them?

Paralysed man's mind read: what do you bet he's thinking of sex?

Although the data is still being analysed, researchers at Boston University believe they can correctly identify the sound Mr Ramsay's brain is imagining some 80% of the time.

In the next few weeks, a computer will start the task of translating his thoughts into sounds.

Live forever! Or at least with humor and health...

Posted on Nov 15th, 2007 by Duff : Modern Magician Duff
Forever young
A new Falling Fruit show came out today: Modern Immortal. What a hilarious first episode!

This show is about health and living fully and will cover everything from chinese medicine to nutrition to esoteric taoist sexual cultivation practices and more!

I'm so glad Ben and Marco are the hosts of this show, as they are both super-knowledgable (Ben helped me fix some long-standing digestive issues recently) and super-funny!

Marco and Ben are going to be asking the tough questions about wacky things in alternative medicine like applied kinesiology (muscle testing), homeopathy, etc. while giving practical tips for maintaining vitality while in the midst of modern life.

Check it out!
